LSM Feature: Letters from Leaders |
LSM's monthly series features real stories, insights, and reflections from leaders across Southern Maryland. Our current theme, “Leading from Where You Are,” explores the many ways leadership happens in everyday moments.
Follow along in our newsletter and on social media, and be part of the conversation each month. In September we’ll bring these lessons to life with a special live event: The Leadership Table with Matt Scassero. |
Congratulations,
Executive Program Class of 2025! |
LSM celebrated the culmination of its 17th Executive Program with the graduation of the Class of 2025 on May 15th at the University System of Maryland at Southern Maryland. The 34-member class completed a 9-month program exploring issues of concern to Southern Maryland in the areas of economic and workforce development, education, healthcare, public safety, housing and human services, and more. The graduation ceremony featured inspiring remarks by class member Donald LaRocco, Executive President of Crestwood Technology Group, a division of Blue Raven Solutions. LaRocco was elected by his colleagues to share reflections on their Executive Program journey. At the request of the class, Dr. Trenace Richardson performed a rousing a capella rendition of the gospel song, "If I Can Help Somebody."
The Class of 2025 presented LSM a check for $7,012, proceeds of the April 4th LSM Night at The REX, their class gift to LSM. The class gift tradition expresses the desire of each Executive Program class to pay forward the benefits of their program experience.
Family, friends, and colleagues toasted the success of the Executive Program Class of 2025 at a reception that followed the graduation ceremony. CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2025! |
LEAP 2024 and LEAP 2025 Support
Christmas in April Calvert County |
This spring, two LSM Emerging Leaders Program (LEAP) classes gave of their time and talent to benefit Christmas in April Calvert County (CIACC). Both classes worked on the same family home in Chesapeake Beach. LEAP 2024 assisted primarily with exterior renovations on March 28th, and LEAP 2025 supported further renovations and both interior and exterior painting on June 6th. The home is one that Christmas in April Calvert County has dreamed of supporting for many years. When the resources finally came together this year to enable this long-awaited project to be pursued, LEAP was more than happy to contribute. Heartfelt thanks to all of the LEAP alumni and participants who poured their hearts and souls into supporting this special project. Thanks also to Donna Sisson, LEAP '22 and member of the CIACC Board of Directors for helping to coordinate these service days. |
