Community Raises Ten Full Scholarships for Teen Leadership Academy |
Applications are still being accepted, and full scholarships are available, for the 2026 Leadership Southern Maryland Teen Leadership Academy presented by Stella's Girls.
We did it! Thanks to the generosity of LSM alumni and community partners, ten students will have the opportunity to attend LSM’s 2026 Teen Leadership Academy presented by Stella’s Girls, Inc. on full-tuition scholarships.
The Teen Leadership Academy, taking place July 27–31, 2026, at the College of Southern Maryland Hughesville Regional Campus, is a premier youth leadership development experience designed to educate, empower, and inspire the next generation of Southern Maryland leaders. The program is open to students entering grades 9 through 12 from Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties.
The week-long academy will empower up to ten youth ages 13–18 (entering Grades 9-12) from Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties to become active community leaders through hands-on learning, intergenerational mentorship, and collaborative problem-solving. Students will explore local community issues; develop innovative solutions to problems, challenges, opportunities they identify; and present their ideas to a panel of regional leaders.
Regular tuition for the program is $1,400. The ten full scholarships that LSM alumni and partners have helped fund will ensure that qualified students have access to the program regardless of financial circumstances.
Our heartfelt thanks to all of you who responded immediately when we shared that students were excited about the Teen Leadership Academy but that tuition presented a barrier for them. Special thanks to the Steve Hall (LSM '18) Family; Micheline Lopez-Estrada, LSM '10, the Darley Family Foundation, and Constellation for supporting full scholarships. The generosity of all of you -- all of our LSM alumni and community partners -- sends a powerful message to these young leaders: You believe in them.
Students interested in participating are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Apply at https://bit.ly/2026TLA. The application deadline is July 17, 2026.

DRIVE TO THE END ZONE: JULY 1 – OCTOBER 15
Join LSMAA now through October 15, and you’ll help your class compete, not only for the win, and not only for the Best Class Ever trophy, but for something bigger. The winning class will be announced at Homecoming on October 22.
TWO GAMES: HOW THEY WORK
DRIVE TO THE END ZONE
LSMAA’s Drive to the End Zone game to achieve 210 memberships runs through October 15. Each LSM graduate who joins LSMAA during this period earns Drive to the End Zone game points for their class as follows: - 1-Year Membership = 1 game point
-
5-Year Membership = 3 game points
- Lifetime Membership = 6 points — TOUCHDOWN!
BEST CLASS EVER CHALLENGE We can’t have a competition without also rewarding you with BCE Challenge points! The BCE Challenge runs through September 30. BCE points for LSMAA membership will be multiplied: - 1-Year Membership = 5 points x 1X = 5 BCE points
-
5-Year Membership = 10 points x 3X = 30 BCE points
- Lifetime Membership = 25 points x 6X = 150 BCE points
