Our Mission:

The American Chestnut Land Trust (ACLT) preserves and conserves the natural and cultural resources of the Parkers Creek and Governors Run Watersheds for the benefit of this and future generations. We provide environmentally sustainable public access to managed properties for educational, scientific, recreational, and cultural purposes. We promote land conservation and preservation throughout Southern Maryland.

What Your Gift Will Do:

ACLT’s Day of Giving typically aims to: The American Chestnut Land Trust (ACLT)’s Day of Giving objective is to raise funds and awareness in support of its mission — to protect and care for the lands, waterways, and wildlife of Calvert County for present and future generations. 5000.00 Engage the community – Encourage members, supporters, and new donors to come together on one day to celebrate and invest in local land conservation. Raise critical operating funds – Support the stewardship of over 3,500 acres of preserved land, maintain trails, restore habitats, and protect the Parkers Creek and Governors Run watersheds. Inspire recurring giving – Motivate donors to become sustaining members or increase their level of support. Build momentum for year-end giving – Serve as a lead-in to ACLT’s annual fundraising season, strengthening donor relationships and visibility.

Volunteer Opportunities:

We have a variety of tasks that require volunteer assistance including land management (trail maintenance), outreach (attending events both on-site and off-site), fundraising, farming, etc. You can view a description of some of our regular volunteer tasks here: https://www.acltweb.org/index.php/volunteer/.
