The primary goal is to secure funding for capital improvement projects for two of our office Buildings located at 8383, 8377 Leonardtown Rd., Hughesville, Md. These buildings were closed last year due to environmental, and health and safety issues. These buildings serve as the agency’s primary locations for services for residents of Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s counties. Operations have been impacted due to the closure of these facilities. The majority of the customers we serve receive services at these locations. During FY25 we served over 20,000 households, with approximately 80,000 individuals benefitting. These upgrades aim to create safe, healthy, and functional environments that enable the effective delivery of programs and services focused on reducing poverty and promoting self-sufficiency for individuals and families in Southern Maryland. Value to the Community: Health & Safety: Mold remediation and roofing repairs will ensure compliance with environmental standards and prevent structural damage, safeguarding the well-being of residents and staff. Enhanced Service Delivery: Interior renovations will modernize program areas and improve accessibility, allowing for more efficient and inclusive community services. Community Pride & Sustainability: Exterior painting will preserve the building’s integrity and enhance its appearance, fostering a sense of pride and morale within the community. Long-Term Impact: These improvements strengthen the infrastructure of a cornerstone resource in Charles County, ensuring continued support for vulnerable populations and contributing to regional stability and growth.
